What kind of effect did it have on his cholesterol? Let's take a look:
The first component the doctors looked at were his Glucose levels.
Bens pre-total body transformation Glucose (blood sugar) levels were: 89
This is considered normal and healthy. It's certainly at the lower end of the range identified by The American Diabetes Association (anywhere from 70mg/dl to 180mg/dl depending upon measurement taken just before or after a meal) but it is healthy nontheless.
Bens pre-total body transformation Total Cholesterol level was: 225
Fortunately it looks as though Bens attempts at eating better paid off. A level of 225 is in the range considered 'Borderline High' by the American Heart Association but they are an improvement over his previous tests according to his doctor.
Bens pre-total body transformation HDL ("good") Cholesterol level was: 42
This is in the low end of the 'normal' range as defined by the American Heart Association. Below 40 is considered a high risk for heart disease while above 60 is considered protective against heart disease.
Bens pre-total body transformation LDL ("bad") Cholesterol level was: 154
This too is in the 'Borderline High' range as mentioned above. Again, this is however an improvement over his previous results.
All told it looks like Bens focus on eating oatmeal for breakfast for a solid 8 months may have had a positive impact on his cholesterol levels. We obviously can't prove this succinctly however, he admitted to not making any other drastic or serious changes to his lifestyle during that timeframe.
Much more to come...
